WINE OLYMPICS

Just three days before the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games, join us at the Alliance Francaise for our own version of Wine Olympics! Our Sommelier, Alicia Barrett, has organized various wine competitions to test your wine proficiency, tasting ability, and knowledge of the 2024 Olympics. The evening will be full of great wines, laughter, prizes, and friendly competition for all – whether you’re brand new to wine or consider yourself an expert. Attend on your own or with your team of four. 

Doors open at 6:00 p.m. for a welcome drink. Tasting starts at 6:30 p.m.

Alicia Barrett fell in love with wine after a trip to Burgundy, a place she still feels is heaven on earth. She began her wine education at the Wine & Spirit Education Trust’s global headquarters in London. Alicia now holds her WSET Diploma, a lengthy and challenging certification held by just over 10,000 individuals worldwide.

Alicia currently serves as the wine educator for Binny’s Beverage Depot of Illinois. With 45 retail stores, she is responsible for both staff and consumer wine education chain-wide. Alicia is also an educator for the U.S. Champagne Bureau and conducts monthly wine tastings for the Alliance Française. Alicia was formerly a sommelier at the InterContinental Hotel-Chicago.

Like many in wine, Alicia is also passionate about food, travel, and city living.
