In collaboration with the Consul General of Switzerland in Chicago and the Goethe Institut, we are excited to invite director Myriam Zumbuehl for a screening and discussion of her 2022 documentary Master of Cheese.
Cheesemaker Willi Schmid has an extraordinary gift: he can tell what a cow has eaten by the taste of its milk. A world-renowned cheesemaker, he does not rely on complex and rigid formulas; instead, he is deeply grounded in the land and traditions of his valley, listening to the earth, the changing seasons, and each of his cows. With intituition and dedication, he crafts cheeses infused with the essence of its origin that are celebrated by Michelin-starred chefs.
Master of Cheese is an invitation to reflect on sustainability and on the intuitive understanding of what surrounds us. It celebrates the honest food that nourishes far more than just the body.
This program will be followed by a complimentary reception of Swiss cheeses and wines and an opportunity to speak with the director.
Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Program begins at 6:30 p.m. Complimentary reception to follow. Please enter via 54 W Chicago Ave. Non-alcoholic options will be available.
