Plein Air Concert: Spicy Khasso

As part of our beloved and ever-popular plein air concert series, the Alliance is thrilled to welcome Spicy Khasso (Mahiri Fainké) for an evening of traditional Senegalese and Malian music with a contemporary flair!

Come experience Khasso’s futuristic compositions on Kora (23-string harp) and Djembe—a fusion of traditional music, jazz, Afro Cuban, diasporic folklore, rock, and more—in the Alliance’s lush and intimate jewelbox courtyard.

Guests will enjoy complimentary French wine and Senegalese specialties like refreshing bissap (hibiscus juice) and thiéboudiène (Jollof rice).

Doors at 6:00 p.m. Program at 6:30. Please enter via 810 N Dearborn St. Vegetarian and non-alcoholic options will be available.

About the Artist

Spicy Khasso (Mahiri Fainké)

Spicy Khasso (Mahiri Fainké), is a young and vibrant Malian, Senegalese, and Jamaican-American artist.

As a keeper of tradition, better known as a Djeli or Griot, Khasso reimagines traditional and modern art practices and takes them to the next level adding psychedelic elements.

In October of 2024 Spicy Khasso started the FoReign DestinÉton Arkestra, a 15+ piece collective of artists from across the globe, celebrating culture through their passions!
