After a sold-out plein air concert last summer, French soprano Gabrielle Goudard is back—this time accompanied by acclaimed Chicago jazz scene guitarist Michael “Mike” Allemana.

Join your fellow Francophiles and music enthusiasts over a bottle of refreshing rosé de Provence in our lovely jewel-box courtyard and let Gabrielle’s voice—accompanied by the sound of guitare—transport you to a Parisian terrace in summer.

Doors at 6:00 p.m. Concert at 6:30. Each table of four includes one complimentary bottle of rosé and salted nuts. A non-alcoholic option is available—please reach out to [email protected] by Friday, June 27 to request. In the event of inclement weather, the program will move indoors to the Eleanor Wood Prince Salon.

About the Artists

Gabrielle Goudard

Born in France, Gabrielle Goudard has studied and performed opera as well as Western classical, jazz, Balinese, Middle Eastern, and Gospel music over the course of her career. She has apparead on numerous stages around the world, including festivals in France, Italy, Norway, Spain, Lebanon, Oman, Turkey, China, Taiwan, Peru, and the US!

Gabrielle is based in Chicago, where she is an active classical soloist, ensemble musician, and jazz bandleader.

Michael Allemana

Guitarist Michael “Mike” Allemana has been performing in Chicago since the 1990s, including 1997–2012 with saxophone legend Von Freeman at his renowned jam session at the New Apartment Lounge. Allemana also collaborated from 2013–2025 with guitarist George Freeman in the George Freeman/Mike Allemana Organ Quartet featuring drumming legend Bernard Purdie. Allemana has several releases under his own name and has arranged several albums, including Chicago vocalist Paul Marinaro’s 2022 release, Not Quite Yet, which features Allemana’s arrangements for strings and horns.

In 2020, Mike earned a PhD in Ethnomusicology from the University of Chicago with a dissertation that explores the contributions of the Freeman family to Chicago cultural history. Currently, Allemana is the director of the University of Chicago Jazz Ensembles and the director of the University of Illinois-Chicago’s jazz guitar studio.
