Voici l’occasion d’approfondir les connaissances acquises l’an dernier: connecter émotion, désir, intention, respiration, geste et élocution au texte en français permet de vraiment “habiter” et vivre dans une langue autre que votre langue maternelle. A la suite, travail sur de nouvelles scènes extraites de L’Avare or Tartuffe après analyse du jeu des comédiens de la Comédie Française.

Take a deeper dive into one of Molière’s plays after last year’s work! Our focus again would be on Molière’s text, voice, and acting: where we connect our voices to our bodies and to our intentions and objectives. Then let’s work on new scenes from L’Avare or Tartuffe after watching and discussing a recording of the Comédie Française staging!

Pourquoi Molière? Parce que nous célébrons cette année son 400ème anniversaire de naissance mais surtout parce que, avec humour et esprit, Molière continue de divertir avec une œuvre qui aborde les thèmes du pouvoir, de l’amour, ou des classes sociales avec toujours autant de pertinence. Voilà sans doute pourquoi ces pièces de théâtre sont produites partout dans le monde, d’Haïti à l’Argentine et du Japon à Chicago.

Votre prof: Comédienne, metteure en scène et productrice, Park a été la directrice artistique du Théâtre du Rêve de Atlanta, la seule compagnie de théâtre professionnelle francophone aux Etats-Unis. Plus récemment, Park faisait partie de la distribution de Bernhardt Hamlet au Goodman Theatre à Chicago.

Why Molière? Besides celebrating his would-be 400th birthday in 2022, Molière was a luminary who through humor and wit, captured universal stories of power, money, status and love. His plays, still more than relevant, are performed and adapted all over the world from Haiti to Argentina to Japan to Chicago.

Your instructor: Park is an actor, director, producer and – former Producing Artistic Director of Théâtre du Rêve, the only professional Francophone theater in the U.S. She appeared in Bernhardt Hamlet at the Goodman Theatre recently.

Park Krausen served as Producing Artistic Director of Théâtre du Rêve - the only professional francophone theater company in the US - for 10 years. There, she focused on international dialogues through theater but with artists from various generations, various disciplines and various places.

Internationally, she has lived and performed in Switzerland, France and Quebec, and performed in Poland, Germany, Belgium, Norway and the Netherlands in both English and French. In the US she specializes in Shakespeare, Beckett and Chekov and is also committed to developing new work. Park has performed at - the Goodman Theatre, Chicago Dramatists, Lincoln Center Living Room Series, Hartford Stage, The Alliance Theater, Georgia Shakespeare, North Carolina Shakespeare, Actors Express, About Face, among others. Park did a gap year in Lausanne, Switzerland, received a BA in Theater and in French from Emory University and did graduate work at Le Conservatoire National Supérieur d’Art Dramatique in Paris, France.

Park speaks fluent French with a French, Swiss, Quebecois, or Romanian accent. She is also conversational in German and knows a bit of Spanish, Welsh, and Japanese.
