International Museum of Surgical Science (1524 N Lake Shore Dr, Chicago, IL, 60610)
The International Museum of Surgical Science and the Alliance Française de Chicago are proud to present a Youth Surrealist Collage Pop-Up Exhibition, a joyful day of family programming celebrating imagination, creativity, and the next generation of artists.
This special pop-up exhibition showcases original collage artworks created by students of the Alliance Française de Chicago. Inspired by surrealism’s embrace of chance, dream logic, and playful experimentation, the works reflect how young artists intuitively engage with visual storytelling—cutting, rearranging, and reimagining the world around them.
The Buñuel Family Legacy Room traces how mentorship from Alexander Calder, Leonora Carrington, Salvador Dalí, and Pablo Picasso shaped generations of the Buñuel family—a theme echoed in the Youth Surrealist Collage Pop-Up.
Presented as part of the closing celebrations of Buñuel: Master of Dreams, the pop-up extends the exhibition’s core ideas into the present, emphasizing that surrealism is not confined to history but continues to thrive wherever curiosity and mentorship are encouraged.
This collaboration brings together two of Chicago’s leading cultural institutions for a full day of family-focused engagement, set within the Museum’s striking historic architecture—where collections, education, and imagination converge.
