For the next installment in our music-themed film series, Cinémélodie, we are excited to announce our screening of the 2012 epic period musical film Les Misérables.
This film adaptation of the classic Victor Hugo novel and Tony award-winning Broadway musical follows the life of Jean Valjean, who has been released from prison and has broken his parole. On the eve of the 1832 June Rebellion, Valjean assumes a new identity, is constantly pursued by policeman Javert, and adopts the orphaned daughter of a factory worker. Les Misérables won multiple Academy Awards and is considered one of the best musical films of the 21st century.
The screening will be preceded by a lecture with François Peltier, Adjoint Commercial at the Consulate General of Canada in Chicago.
Guests will enjoy a complimentary glass of Louis Jadot Bourgogne and a chance to win a $50 gift certificate to the Sofitel Magnificent Mile’s très chic Le Bar.
Doors at 6:00 p.m. for a complimentary glass of wine. Program at 6:30 p.m. Please enter via 54 W Chicago Ave. Non-alcoholic options will be available.
