Join Chef Ali for an intimate and engaging cooking workshop at the Alliance Française, in collaboration with the Haitian American Museum of Chicago.

Diri Kole Ak Pwa is a beloved Haitian dish of rice and peas, celebrated for its rich flavors and vibrant ingredients. This vegetarian delight features aromatic epis—Haitian seasoning blend—infusing the rice with a depth of flavor that embodies the essence of Haitian cuisine. Guests will learn to prepare this comforting dish while exploring the cultural significance and culinary techniques behind it.

  • Duration: 1 hour
  • Structure: Participants will enjoy a complimentary welcome drink of sweet and creamy Haitian cremasse before being divided into teams of two at eight stations, each equipped for hands-on cooking.
  • Interactive Learning: Chef Ali will guide attendees through the preparation of Diri Kole ak Pwa, sharing the tips and tricks along the way.
  • Tasting & Sharing: At the end of the workshop, guests will enjoy their creations, fostering a sense of community and appreciation for Haitian culinary traditions.

Doors at 6:00 p.m. Please enter via 54 W Chicago St. A staff member will direct you to our Demonstration Kitchen for a complimentary welcome drink. A non-alcholic option will be available.
