Parlons Livres: Monthly Book Club
Monday, September 28 | 5:30–7:00 pm On-site · 810 N. Dearborn St. Levels: B2-C1 Join our monthly, in-person French Book Club, featuring Chanson douce by award-winning author Leïla Slimani as our September book pick! This gripping and thought-provoking novel explores family, motherhood, social class, and the complex relationships between those who care for us and those we trust. Open to upper-intermediate and advanced French speakers, our monthly in-person book club offers an opportunity to read contemporary French literature while developing vocabulary, deepening comprehension, and engaging in thoughtful discussion. Conversation will be led by an AF-Chicago French teacher and will explore the novel’s characters, themes, language, and cultural context. Participants should read the book before the discussion and come prepared to share their thoughts and interpretations in French.
