Film Screening: Cinémanuscrit—Persepolis

Announcing AF-Chicago’s 2026/2027 film series, Cinémanuscrit: an exploration of cinematic adaptions of Francophone literature featuring films from the four corners of the French-speaking world. Join us as we kick off the series with a screening of Iranian and French comic book author, film director, and children’s book author Marjane Satrapi’s award-winning 2007 biographical drama Persepolis, based on Satrapi’s autobiographical graphic novels published between 2000 and 2003.

Film Screening: Cinémanuscrit—Xala

In October we continue our Cinémanuscrit series, an exploration of cinematic adaptions of Francophone literature, with a screening of legendary Senegalese film director, producer, and writer Ousmane Sembène’s 1975 satirical comedy Xala*,* adapted from Sembène’s own 1973 novel of the same name.

For the December edition of Cinémanuscrit, escape the cold with French film director and screenwriter François Ozon’s 2025 drama L’Étranger (The Stranger), adapted from Albert Camus’s 1942 novel of the same name.
