Join us for a craft night as part of our French-immersion art workshop series!

Inspired by the Franco-Ukrainian painter and textile artist Sonia Delaunay, Chicago-based French artist Floriane Roussel will lead a painting workshop discovering the geometry and vibrant colors of Delaunay’s works.

Guests will enjoy: 

  • A complimentary glass of French win
  • The opportunity to speak French with fellow Francophones
  • A chance to get crafty and go home with a new artistic creation

No previous art experience is required! All levels of French are welcome.

About the Artist

Sonia Delaunay

Sonia Delaunay was born in Ukraine in 1885 and formally trained in Russia and Germany before moving to France. She co-founded the Orphism art movement, which featured her abstract geomtric style and her use of vibrant colors. She was the first living female artist to have a retrospective exhibition at the Louvre.

About the Workshop Facilitator

Floriane Roussel

Floriane Roussel is a Chicago-based French painter, illustrator, and graphic designer. From big international campaigns to small French children’s books, Floraine adapts her unique style to all kinds of projects.

Getting Here

The Alliance Française de Chicago is one block from the CTA Red line stop at Chicago Ave. Best bus routes are the 22 on Clark St and the 66 on Chicago Ave. A Divvy station is located in front of the 54 W Chicago Ave entrance.

Parking Information

$10 for 12 hours at 100 W Chestnut St. Validation is available at reception.
