Pope Francis made Latifa Ibn Ziaten the recipient of the Zayed Prize for Human Fraternity in 2021. A French mother whose son, an army soldier, was killed in the line of duty by the jihadist Mohamed Merah, Latifa Ibn Ziaten started a foundation promoting peace and tolerance of religious differences with youth in schools ever since. She is now bringing her message of laïcité to Chicago.
The screening of Latifa: Le Coeur au Combat ( 50 min., in French with English subtitles ) describing our guest’s mission will be followed by an address to the public by Latifa Ibn Ziaten and a Q & A with the public.
This program is possible thanks to the support of the French Embassy in the U.S. We thank the French and Francophonie Department of the University of Illinois-Chicago for their support.
