La Cérémonie by Claude Chabrol ( France, 1995, 112 min.)
Your name is on our guest list, and we hope you will join us for the screening of la Cérémonie, a thrilling tale of power, class, secrecy and manipulation directed by Charbol.
In La Cérémonie, two working class women, played to icy perfection by Isabelle Huppert and Sandrine Bonnaire, develop a co-dependent relationship, which signals danger for the upper crust family for which one of them works.
One of the core Nouvelle Vague directors, whose iconic Le Beau Serge heralded the coming of the wave, Chabrol went on to direct 54 films and becoming a master of suspense, much like his American idol, Hitchcock.
With Milos Stehlik, film critic and Facets director—In French with English subtitles.
Please note: Wine service at 6:00 p.m.!
