Crazy Horse by Frederick Wiseman (2011, 134 min.)

One of the greatest documentary filmmakers of our time, and the recipient of a 2016 Honorary Oscar from the Academy, Frederick Wiseman has set his camera on renowned French institutions such as the Comédie Française and the Paris Opéra Ballet before going behind-the-scenes at the famous Crazy Horse burlesque revue in Paris.

You are invited to “contemplate the intricacies of the creative process, the daily rhythms of a complex organization and the tensions between artistic ambition and practicality — and also to look at very beautiful women wearing very little." – A.O. Scott, The New York Times

Short film: Team Taliban by Benjamin Kegan (2009, 11 min., English)

Please note that our wine service begins at 6:00 p.m.

This series is made possible in part thanks to the support of Reed, Centracchio & Associates and the in-kind contribution of Kobrand / Louis Jadot and the Sofitel Café des Architectes.

It’s at church that burlesque artist Brooklyn Britches developed her musical skills while growing up in a small town outside of Toledo, Ohio. All this changed when she made her way to Chicago in 2011, where she met some of the most talented and inspirational dancers in Chicago and around the world while studying at Studio L’Amour. She made her stage debut in 2014, performing a singing striptease to a swing version of Bei Mir Bist Du Shoen.

Brooklyn is now performing mostly as a singer in Chicago and around the U.S. with her band Brooklyn Britches and The Whispers, as well as producing and coproducing her own shows and events. Upright bass (Martin Stonikas) and classic acoustic guitar (Charles Williams) underscore Brooklyn Britches' smokey jazz vocals, completely engaging you in the present while simultaneously transporting you back to the golden age of jazz.
