Cultured butter is made throughout France and other parts of Europe by adding live active cultures to cream and fermenting before churning. The result is slightly tangy, extremely rich, and delicious.

Learn to make your own cultured butter, and use it to bake sablés, the classic French butter cookies that will steal the spotlight at your holiday cookie exchanges.

Students will also taste test their homemade cultured butter against a storebought cultured brand and an American sweet cream brand. We will kick off the class with a glass of vin chaud to get in the French holiday spirit!

This cooking workshop will last 2.5 hours.


Beth Somers

Food Network's Cupcake Wars’ winner Beth Somers is a classically trained pastry chef. She has made thousands of cakes for weddings, birthdays, and other celebrations while working on all sides of the food industry. On her off days, she enjoys cooking and eating salty things (but mostly ice cream).
