On June 9, 2018 the Alliance Française de Chicago Woman’s Board will host its Biennial fundraiser “Versailles en Scène” at the Civic Opera House.

The splendor of the Château de Versailles reimagined at the sumptuous Civic Opera House of Chicago into an innovative modern concept for the Gala. The evening is inspired by the epic banquets and magnificent fêtes created by Francois Vatel at the court of Louis XIV. It harnesses the flourishing creativity that has long been associated with the Château and Les Jardins à la Française! Stroll through lush box gardens, enjoy moments theatrical surprise and luxurious spectacle performances, dine on the stage in the hall of mirrors, and dance under the fireworks in l’Orangerie. Exclusive live and silent auctions bring the richness of French style and culture into the spotlight.

The Woman’s Board of the Alliance Française was formed to develop and manage Alliance programs and to serve as a fundraising arm. Mrs. David R. Hamilton, who chaired one of the most successful galas ever at Marshall Field’s during the 1989 French Bicentennial year, was asked to revive the Woman’s Board in 1996, and it thrives in that form today. The Woman's Board proudly supports the Educational Outreach Program, which provides the means for select CPS high school students to not only strengthen their studies of the French language, but most importantly to open their hearts and minds to the world.
