DELF / DALF Tout Public

Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française (DELF) and Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française (DALF)

About DELF and DALF

The DELF/DALF Tout Public are official French-language diplomas awarded by the French Ministry of Education. Recognized around the world, these diplomas certify your proficiency in French according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and are accepted by universities, employers, and government institutions internationally. The DELF and DALF consist of six independent diplomas, each corresponding to a CEFR level (A1-C2).

The DELF (Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française) is aimed at candidates with beginner to advanced levels: A1, A2, B1, and B2.

The DALF (Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française) is aimed at expert language users: C1 and C2.

Each examination evaluates four core language skills:

  • Listening Comprehension
  • Reading Comprehension
  • Written Production
  • Oral Production

All four skills are assessed during the examination. To earn the diploma, candidates must achieve:

  • A minimum overall score of 50/100, and
  • At least 5/25 in each of the four skill areas

A candidate who does not meet both requirements does not earn the diploma and must retake the full examination. Partial scores cannot be carried over to a future session. The DELF and DALF are diplomas that are valid for life.

Each candidate is provided with a digital attestation stating their exam results within 4-5 weeks of the test date. Official printed diplomas are sent within 3 to 6 months of the exam.
