This is the third section of the B1-level Défi Actuel 3 sequence for Intermediate students. In this unit, you'll explore the role of language in society while discussing multilingualism, language learning, and cultural identity. You'll learn to express opinions, interests, agreement and disagreement, and speculate about imaginary situations while developing greater confidence participating in discussions and debates. Through authentic articles, multimedia activities, and collaborative projects, you'll practice expressing opinions with greater precision by distinguishing between the indicative and the subjunctive, use complex relative pronouns, and form hypothetical statements with si clauses and the conditional. You'll expand your vocabulary related to languages, communication, personal interests, and cultural diversity. Culturally, you'll discover the richness of French around the world, regional varieties of the language, and the importance of multilingualism across the francophone world. By the end of this course, you'll be able to defend your ideas more naturally and communicate with greater nuance.
