Défi Actuel 3 – Unit 1 (B1 Level)

This is the first section of the B1-Intermediate Défi Actuel 3 sequence. In this unit, you'll strengthen your ability to share memories, recount past experiences, and talk about the people, places, and events that have shaped your life. You'll learn to express emotions, satisfaction, and disappointment, describe your dreams and future projects, and discuss topics such as family history, migration, and personal identity. Through interactive and multimedia activities, authentic texts, and course book exercises, you'll improve your ability to narrate in the past by mastering the use of the imparfait and passé composé, while reinforcing object pronouns and past participle agreement. You'll also expand your vocabulary related to memories, emotions, ancestry, professions, travel, and storytelling. Culturally, you'll discover literary traditions, migration stories, and diverse francophone perspectives on identity and belonging. By the end of this course, you'll be able to tell richer, more nuanced personal stories with greater confidence and fluency.
