None of these French writers succeeded in getting a Fauteuil at l'Académie Française but... the Alliance Française de Chicago gives you a unique opportunity to name your seat in the Auditorium in support of our Cultural Programs!

From the start of the COVID-19 pandemic we have delivered French culture to you online with innovative and quality programs such as the Grands Chateaux of the Loire and Ile-de-France or Noires Amériques.

We will continue to offer all things French on-site soon but on-going social distancing means we can only use 20 of the 150 seats in our auditorium.

Contribute to La Culture at the Alliance by naming one of these 20 seats!

By naming a fauteuil you are helping us continue to offer superb programs as we face unprecedented challenges. Your generosity makes a difference!

Pricing: $1,000 for a row seat and $1,500 for an aisle seat
Please contact Katherine Carey at [email protected] or (312) 337-1070 for more information or any questions. All donations are 100% tax deductible.

Established in 1635 by Cardinal Richelieu, the Académie Française consists of forty members, guardians of the French language, known informally as les immortels, each sitting in their own fauteuil. New members elected by the Académie hold office for life.

Established in 1897, l’Alliance Française de Chicago is Chicago’s premier French cultural and learning center, dedicated to the study of French language, cultural exchange and friendship between American and French-speaking people.
