The best way to develop your taste buds and acquire the lexicon of a connoisseur? Blind tasting! Team up and match what you taste with the right description. Compare French wine to wines from Europe and the New World. Have fun with our new sommeliers, Meghan Vandette and Scott Komplin, and make friends at the Bistrot de l'Alliance...and never hesitate again to mention a wine's "racy acidity" or "hint of toasted vanilla spice."
Scott Komplin has spent most of his professional career in corporate finance. In 2004, a corporate acquisition project placed Scott in the Sonoma Wine Country for months at a time and that is where his passion for wine began. Now a certified sommelier, he has since spent the last 12 years travelling the Sonoma and Napa wine roads discovering brilliant wines, glorious vineyards and incredible producers. In addition to California, Scott has toured the gorgeous Okanagan wine region of British Columbia, Canada and has traveled all over the world to such destinations as Singapore, Russia, Finland, UK, France, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil, and Australia discovering the wines and soaking in the local culture.
Scott lives in the Edgewater neighborhood in Chicago and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin Superior. You usually can find him at the Grant Park Music Festival in Millennium Park every warm summer Saturday night sharing some amazing wines and eats with his park wine group.
Parking: 12 hours for $8 at two locations close to the Alliance. More information here.
