| Young winemakers from around the world have made their pilgrimages to French wineries to steep themselves in the French traditions and techniques. How does this French influence manifest itself in wines made outside of France, if at all? |
| Damien presents a flight of wines from California and Germany that make reference to French winemakers and for comparisons sake, he will also pour a flight of American and German wines comparable in every respect… region, grape, ambition… minus any deliberate French influence. Wines will include everything from a 1996 Kalin Semillon Livermore to a 2004 Keller Spatburgunder Rheinhessen. Join us and see if you can taste the difference.
Regional French cheeses will be served with the wines. |
| Sunday's wines: Porter Creek, 2005 "George's Hill" Chardonnay, 2005 Estate Pinot Noir, 2002 Timebervine Syrah, and a 1997 Kalin Semillon. |
| From Germany: 2004 Weingut Keller, Spatburgunder (Pinot Noir) |
| Comparisons: 2005 Tensley Three Creek Syrah, 2003 Scherrer Russian River Vally Pinot Noir and a 2001 Scherrer Chardonnay. |
