All certifications are designed and awarded by the CIEP (Centre International d'Etudes Pédagogiques), an official department of the French Ministry of Education, that offers internationally recognized tests to assess individual’s knowledge of the French language.

Exams for adults

Officially prove your French level.

  • What is the Test de Connaissance du Français Tout Public? It is a standardized and graded French language test. There is no failing! All candidates receive a certificate of their level (from A1 to C2).
    For more information, visit the CIEP site.
  • How long is it valid? It is valid for 2 years.
  • How can I prepare? You can prepare with Tv5Monde or with RFI
  • When do I get the results? Each candidate is provided with a certificate stating their test results within one month of the test date.

  • What is the Test de Connaissance du Français Accès à la Nationalité Française? It is compulsory for applicants to the French Citizenship. For more information, visit the CIEP site.
  • How long is it valid? It is valid for 2 years.
  • How can I prepare? You can prepare on the CIEP site.
  • When do I get the results? Each candidate is provided with a certificate stating their test results within one month of the test date.

First year university degree program student and Architecture student

  • What is the Test de Connaissance du Français Demande d'Application Préalable? It is compulsory for future students for admission to first year university degree programs and for Architecture students in France. For more information, visit the CIEP site.

  • What are the Diplôme d'Etudes en Langue Française and Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française? They are official French language level diplomas awarded by the French Ministry of Education. The DELF is aimed at candidates with beginner to advanced levels (A1, A2, B1, and B2) whereas the DALF is aimed at expert language users (C1 and C2).

Cancellation policy

DELF/DALF: CIEP regulations governing cancellations only allows refunds in case of emergency, defined as illness, transportation problems, death of a loved one, or sickness. Candidates who miss their scheduled exam date for one of these reasons may receive a full refund of their registration fees on condition that they provide the CIEP services with official proof.

TCF: No refunds.
